Is it griefing if a player says they will grief, but then the team talks them out of it in the next 5-10 minutes?

I was watching some Overwatch cases today where a player was reported for griefing, but the player doesn’t actually grief, however for about next 5 minutes the player exhibits somewhat strange behaviour (and team members reported him like 10 times consecutively).

And I actually know exactly what is happening because I encounter it once a week at least.

What happens is that a player gets tilted, says he’ll feed, then the team spends 10 minutes talking to him to chill him out. During that time the player will sort of wander around, maybe push a lane a bit, farm woods, but not really join fights or anything. But not fully griefing. And then you’ll see the player finally joining with the team after some time.

Is that considered griefing? Is it a job of the rest of the team to be psychological support simply because the team doesn’t want to lose and will try to un-tilt the tilted player?

Because in quite a large portion of Overwatch cases this is exactly what’s happening. You can clearly see the player is tilted, but regains focus later.

Griefing? Attempted griefing? Griefing in the second degree?
