I play a survival world with two of my irl pals. We played legit up until around day 100 where we died on a long expedition without portals. Rather than spend several hours trekking back for our items, we decided we would just spawn in what we lost. No big deal, everyone agreed on it.
After getting more crafting upgrades and realizing we needed a bigger base, we agreed it would be fine to go into custom mode to build a base for us to play out of. I didn't mind this at all because I saw it as just giving us a cool home to increase the aesthetic while playing. Didn't spawn in any upgrades we hadn't unlocked yet.
Now we are in the mistlands and my friends are going into single player worlds and giving themselves tons of items, and carrying them into our survival world. Our food chest is full of stacks of the best food, that we definitely didn't have enough supplies to make, weapons that we have unlocked but insufficient supplies to craft, and armor that we didn't have the materials for.
We were playing today and I got super frustrated with them because I asked someone to make some more meads with me to fill up our kegs. They didn't even know what the main ingredient was, the ingredient that goes in every single mead base. This just really rubbed me the wrong way. I'm all for people playing how they want but it just feels cheap and like they are missing out on huge aspects of the game.
I am conflicted because I agreed with and participated in some of the "cheating", but I justified by saying it would just make my experience better. I don't mind grinding for stuff in game, I have like 3k+ hours in runescape if that tell you anything. But in this situation and just the type of game valheim is, I'm very annoyed with my friends and trying to explain this to them they just did not understand. Am I wrong for feeling how I do? I'm sure this is a somewhat common occurrence with other people who play this game.
TLDR:
Survival world with 3 irl friends. We have all cheated small parts of the game, they are starting to cheat larger parts of the game and I am getting annoyed. Am I justified considering I was a part of it in the beginning?
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
