I am a long time DotA veteran since DotA 1 in Warcraft 3 custom games era and a long time player of DotA 2. I used to play a lot of DotA, and watching competitive. The game was growing a lot and especially the prize pools for TI from $1.6 million during TI1 and TI2 to a $40 million prize pool last year even without fans in the arena for obvious reasons.
However, this year the prize pool and hype is very low considering it is starting in only a few days. Of course there is a big controversy with Russian betting scandal and the battle pass is basically shit. And the time zone is horrendous for us Europeans. The games start at 04.00 (that's 4AM, -Americans) which is ungodly for us mortals. But even amid all that negativity, Valve has not even released something basic as fantasy cards. In-game it says it will come in October – someone needs to wake the sleeping giant!
