Below is a summary of my own, not their exact words, everyone has a playstyle but there are general principles that I found very common among top players.
Despite how you play, PVP can be mainly divided into two categories "Defender: The angle holder" and "Pusher: The peeker" and top players basically play pvp like a chess game. And it's definitely not "always" the peeker who has advantage.
"If you have fairly accurate position of your target, do the push because of peeker's advantage; but if you don't have that info, for example, you just know there is a guy in a room, but don't know exactly where, then the defender will have advantage because you have to enter a room, check multiple angles and then engage, which would give the defender more than enough time to kill"
I found many good players are just essentially doing those two trade-off to make decision. For example, if your opponent knows your position, a good approach to counter his peeker advantage would be immediately change your position even if just a little bit, or better if you can do a weird angle such as prone; but then, the pusher can do some more run by + free look or bait shots to confirm defender's position, thus counter-counter peeker advantage to regain the upper hand; by the end of day, the goal is to use those strategies to gain some advantage so that the fight is more than 50/50 random.
For non-chad players, it's either hold an angle to the death or blindly rush, which could easily lead to death. For chad players, those exchange of gaining upper hands can happen several times until someone's nerves breaks down and makes mistake.

TLDR :
if you have accurate position of your target, go swing hard and exploit peeker's advantage;
if you don't have this information, hold unexpected angles to gain defender's advantage;
your role can change between the defender and pusher depending on new info, so being flexible!
