EDIT: Don't take my Dark Souls comparison too seriously or downvote the post over it. There's a reason I made a poll over it, because I want everyone to feel free to express their opinion. If you think it's too easy, please express that opinion in the poll. Downvoting this post just hides your opinion, and actually ironically hides the majority opinion.
OP w/ few edits:
I'm wondering what people think about this. I've generally been finding the difficulty of Valheim to basically result in the game going very slow.
My personal take:
Overall, I've found it more punishing and slower going than Dark Souls (though, some here disagree, I don't know, maybe Dark Souls is harder but death feels more punishing in Valheim, except for getting cursed in Dark Souls, only played (and beat) DS1), and it's just made me very hesitant to go out and explore this game's world. Feels grindier in a way, but maybe encounters are technically easier? IDK. I'm 40 hours or so in.
That said, I'm really unsure what to make of the difficulty. On the one hand, I really like the fact that the difficulty inspires teamwork and good base-building, which makes the engineering aspect of the game a lot of fun.
But, sometimes exploring new places gets to be a bit punishing to me.
What are your thoughts?
