Are there any Commanders who really enjoy using everything BUT Gauss Cannons for AX operations? I savor the sound of the Enhanced AX Multicannons, and have a single modified Plasma Charger for exertion and shield damage. Now that I've gotten the hang of using these new weapons, I'm enjoying myself a lot more. Even Xeno Scanning Interceptors is easy now. Hardly anything stops me in my Krait MK II. With just a little help from those ever-faithful AX NPCs, I can knock out Basilisks with relative ease (no rhyme intended). It might be just me, but I've used Gauss Cannons nearly exclusively for the almost two years I've been hunting. They're an effective weapon. Arguably the most effective weapon for AX all-around. However I LIKE AX weaponry and off-meta Guardian tech better. I don't feel like I'm fighting against myself, who I am, what I really enjoy, when I use AX multicannons. Now don't get me wrong, I do still enjoy using Gauss Cannons. I recently purchased a Chieftain and gave it your standard AXI-approved Gauss Loadout. It's been fun learning to fly in a much more responsive ship. Firing Gauss Cannons two at a time and having a perfect rhythm to fire them that way is very satisfying. It just isn't me. I get back in my Krait and I feel at home. Not only for the ship, but also my weapons. I can't be the only one desperate to prove that AX weapons have more worth than people give them credit for. Most Interceptors around starports and settlements are Cyclopses. These Enhanced guns absolutely shred through those things. I don't think the Gauss meta will ever be overturned, but if this pattern of mostly Cyclopses continues, our favorite rapid fire small caliber weapon might be getting some much needed love. I still hold out hope for a community goal for an Enhanced Xeno Scanner with at least double the scan range. That'll be all she wrote for me. You won't see any Gauss on my MK II for a LONG time. Might not even see me in a Krait. At that point, it'll be time to load up in a Corvette or an Anaconda whilst carrying those recently-announced stabilizers. A Corvette with five multicannons or a Conda with six would be such a delight to see more of. Cheers Commanders. Rant over o7
