It’s just not worth it. At all. I went exploring. Got hijacked by 6 blood things, 2 seekers, and a flying pos. I die. I’m in the middle of nowhere in mistlands and bc it’s the mistlands there’s no easy way back. At all. Prior to, you could do a death run and for the most part easily get back to where you were and get your gear. Mist? Not at all. The terrain sucks, you can’t see, you practically need a whole nother set of armor and weapons to just survive and if you take that with you to collect your dead corpse gear…there goes your inventory space if you even have space. Not to mention you can’t see anything at all. Dumb ass wisp floating around you just barely gives you anything of worth. Before it was you can’t see 2 feet in front. Now it’s you can’t see 10 feet in front.
Not to mention I tried carrying what I needed to build a portal everywhere I go and just move the portal as I explorer but then I spend half my time building a crafting table, portal etc to go back to base and it eats your inventory space alive.
I’m convinced this game is just putting obstacle after obstacle in the way to make it “hard”. No real progress is ever made. You just build the next best gear over and over to survive at best the next area. You are not really properly rewarded going to the mistlands .
None of the effort you’ve made in the past areas actually helps you for the new areas. It feels like a chore now. Imma bout to leave the mistlands for good and just go back to my meadows and dark forest and build for fun bc any building material is too hard to farm and not worth it. I’m back to freaking 20s for my sword and running. I was at 60s. I’ve been on this map for over 300 days and most of my progress is gone. Sure you say go grind for the skill back. That’s boring af. If I want to grind, there are plenty of more fun games that require grinding. I can grind all day to get my stats back to 60+ but it will just be eaten alive bc I died in the mistlands bc you have maybe 15 minutes of day time and that gets you no where in the mistlands bc that’s 7 minutes of rough travel getting you barely anywhere only to turn around and go home and hope it doesn’t turn night time. Or you can push through the night and encounter an impossible ambush of mobs and your back is up against a large pillar of stone.
The speed of progression in the mistlands is so painstakingly slow that it’s not worth it at all. It’s become such a waste that my two buddies and I are done with it. My other friends are looking for a new game which sucks bc I love the building in valheim. It’s my favorite thing. I was excited about unlocking black marble but it’s not worth it at all. In creative? Sure it’s awesome but it’s just dark stone and I can build stone with little to no effort in survival.
Mistlands sucks. I spend more time trying to recover my original dead body and all my gear than I do exploring. And I’ve trying going about it in max level fenris and in 2nd level carapace. The damn hjal and his leaches just destroy you given the terrain of mistlands. If you die exploring in the mistlands you might as well say good bye to whatever gear you had and get new gear and wood for a crafting table and stuff for a portal just in the rare occasion you get back to your body.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
