Long post, sorry in advance!
So I’ve had ED for about a year now but only a hundred or so hours invested, I can’t play all that often. So I decided to make the journey out to Colonia, I love the exploring aspect of the game, so it took awhile but it was fun!
Now I’m here though, I want to lay some roots and hang around for a bit. I bought and outfitted another asp exploring and fitted it for mining, with mining lasers, abrasion blasters, sub surface displacement missiles, the lot of it. I have 96 tons of cargo space and bring out 60 limpets with me. I even found a couple of decent systems with ok planetary rings (I could always use some suggestions in this regard!).
The trouble: I surface scan the rings, find the good stuff and when I get there I fire off the pulse wave analyser, find the good asteroids to go after but I very seldom find what I’m looking for, is there a trick to identifying which asteroids have what before firing off a prospecting limpet, so I don’t waste limpets? Maybe the brightness of the golden hue from the pulse wave tells a tale that I don’t know yet? Or is it just that difficult to find the good stuff? I’ve watched a few YouTube videos, and they all seem to dive right in onto the first asteroid and strike it rich.
I’ve been going after LTDs, and I know about VOs. After three hours of play today I netted 7mil with my explorer grabbing LTDs, not bad but I feel like I’m missing out. I’ve seen the sell prices on eddb and know what could do well. I was just hoping for a little guidance on improving my success rate, and increasing my cr/hr production while I’m out here in Colonia.
Thank you, Commanders!
