Personally, I feel really, really mixed about it. Renfri was a highlight and I'm looking forward to building decks with her, but Eltibald as the only payoff for playing Cursed units essentially nullifies any chances of there being a legitimate Cursed deck, which I think many were hoping for and expecting given the name of the expansion.
Scoia'tael got some nice Harmony buffs, Skellige looks strong with Pirate additions, I like the additions to Tidecloaks, but on the other hand, seeing the von Everec mansion for Monsters and it being related to Thrive instead of Cursed was a letdown for me, NR deserved far better with Cursed instead of the Knights they got, and CDPR was smoking weed with Cultists and trying to establish a new archetype for Nllfgaard while only having 4 cards…
In the end, regardless of what the patch reworks, I partially feel this was a failure of marketing. The Black Sun expansion carried with it some expectations, of seeing characters related to the Curse of the Black Sun, of having a legit Cursed archetype, and in the end we only got Renfri and Eltibald, and basically no Cursed deck to speak of, even though most units have the Cursed tag slapped on them… for some reason.
I think it's sad however that my excitement for the expansion went down pretty much with every reveal, and the single leek for Golden Nekker has me far more interested in Gwent's future than this expansion does. But, even with all the mixed feelings, I still look forward to playing with the new cards, even if 99% of the excitement is carried by Renfri.
