The loss of 50% status res makes the hero feel passive, slow, boring. Omni is overpowered right now, but he just sits there and makes two heroes hard to kill.
What is the point of a tanky Omniknight? Bristle and Timber do aoe damage on low cooldowns, Tidehunter stuns a whole team, Spectre reflects damage back on her enemies.
But the best spot to cast Omniknight's spells from is the fog of war behind his carry. Your carry gets attacked: you purify him, remove debuffs with Heavenly Grace, and ult if needed. Why would you risk going into the fray and getting silenced, stunned and being unable to save properly?
Maybe Icefrog wants Omniknight to be a strong tanky hero, but his spells don't benefit from being in the fray at all.
A strong, single target Heavenly Grace makes more sense. It gives the carry more freedom to run around get kills and do his thing, which makes your game more fun since you are the guy that sits behind him and helps with his rampage.

If the double Heavenly Grace has to stay, at least give Omni something to do when he goes into the teamfight. A spell that synergizes with his tanky nature. Maybe he can redirect some damage from the guy he gives Heavenly Grace. Or a spell that works with his right clicks like Abaddon. Maybe you can right click your ally to repair them like the TF2 Engineer.

Disclaimer : This is just my opinion as someone who likes buffing my team and making them powerful.
TLDR : Don't split Heavenly Grace's power between two units. Bring back status res, single target Heavenly Grace. If the spell is balanced to work on two units it will end up weak and feel bad to use.
