I'm currently planning a Vulture combat zone build (Ship name: ISS Murder Hobo edit: I didn't realize this actually had a meaning outside of an inside joke, so I will be changing it), and I was hoping to get a few opinions from those with more experience. My current combat rank is competent (78%), though I'd still say I'm a bit of a rookie pilot (as demonstrated by my high-speed creation of a new Imperial Clipper memorial on a high gravity planet I attempted to land on, made decorative with 180t of gold "finishing touches"). I'm planning on running the vulture with 2x c3 PAs. I'm currently at this point in the engineering process https://s.orbis.zone/hk2h, and working on finishing engineering my shields and shield boosters to this point https://s.orbis.zone/hk2k.
At this point, I'm planning to start engineering my 2 class 3 plasma accelerators. I can't decide between three options, and I was hoping to get the opinions of more experienced CMDRs.
A) Long range G5, Plasma Slug
B) Efficient G5, Plasma Slug
c) Focused G5, Plasma Slug
I plan to use the plasma slug experimental modification regardless since I'm rather paranoid about running out of ammo during a fight and would rather not continuously grind materials for reloads. So the slight damage penalty to use my fuel as ammo is well worth it.
Considering that my current flight skills are not the best, I'm thinking that using long range to get the higher projectile speed. This would make it almost reasonable for me to enter combat with an Elite pilot in an Eagle, since at the moment, I'm quite excellent at missing and hitting allies. However, there is a slight damage reduction due to the Plasma Slug experimental modification.
Efficient would gain the benefit of essentially naturalizing the plasma slug damage reduction while reducing the amount of power used and cooked CMDR created (since I'd rather use 4x shield boosters than 3x and a heatsink). However, at the moment, I doubt I could hit any decent pilot in a small ship with the plasma accelerators.
For those whom are better at this than I, what would you normally choose and/or recommend?
