If you paid any attention to pro dota recently, you know that the game at the highest level is played almost exclusively around Roshan from about 16 minutes onward. Aegis is immensely impactful and gives your team the ability to completely take over the map.
With glyphs existing, gone are the days of being able to trade Roshan for getting an important tower.
Imo I feel like the biggest “game” change that would impact how pro dota is played has to center around Roshan.
There’s a pretty large number of things you could consider changing. Items dropped, location of the pit, respawn timer, aegis timer, etc.
My prediction/suggestion for a reasonable but still impactful change is to nerf the duration of the Aegis. I think 5 minutes is way too long of a time for a team to have “control” of the map and continue to build their lead.
If aegis duration was changed to say 3 minutes only, that puts a lot more emphasis on getting something actionable done in a quick manner. And even if you just choose to increase your lead and farm, it doesn’t put the other team on the back foot for quite as long.
I think they could also consider changing glyph in some way so that a team who couldn’t contest Roshan could still achieve something on the map. Perhaps nerfing glyph such that you can only use it once per 10 minutes, but maybe have a separate glyph for each tier of tower? Like all T1/s share one cooldown, but then there’s a separate glyph for T2s, T3s, and T4s.
Anyways, I am sure we’re going to see some sort of Roshan change if Valve wants to shake up this game, so I’m excited to see what happens.
