Poll: Would you be open to a monthly subscription?

My thinking is that a monthly subscription (say $5-$15?) would open up a lot of possibilities for ED.

  • Subscribers would give provide revenue to keep up servers, allowing us to move off of peer-to-peer networking. P2P should still be an option for all players for private games, but lock Open to subscription only, and only allow Open players to affect galaxy wide events (such as powerplay and CG's).
  • This would provide revenue for constant development, more robust than regular development and not requiring an expansion to get bigger updates.
  • Give subscribers free Arx each month, so subscribers get free cosmetics? Maybe certain cosmetics reserved for long-term subscribers?
  • This would provide incentive for FDev to keep the playerbase happy in order to keep up subscriptions. Should incentivize more community input for updates.

I know switching to a subscription optional model would have plenty of haters, but it seems like a lot of our problems stem from FDev needing to pick and choose what to develop, due to lack of resources, so they instead develop lackluster expansion and Jurassic Park games.

What do y'all think? Anybody think they'd support this as something we should push for?
