I've had my trusty finewood bow ever since I was a log-rolling fool before defeating Eikthyr. It's fully upgraded.
In looking at the huntsman bow, it's 20 iron. I need 20 for the iron pickaxe, too, which I think is more important than getting the huntsman because it's only one point better in damage than my level 4 finewood. I need the pickaxe for obsidian and silver, and I need obsidian for a level 5 workbench.
Therefore, I think I will skip the huntsman bow altogether and just go for the Draugr fang.
Not-so-hot take … I think the finewood bow is the best pre-iron item in the game when you consider the damage it does, the relative ease of acquiring and upgrading the bow, and its applicability even in the late game.
It's hard to argue with the poison damage of the Draugr fang, but if not for that poison damage, I might go with my trusty finewood forever.
