Post-Holiday Hopes

I've been in a black hole of Valheim since they dropped Mistlands. Absolutely soaking it up and can't get enough, no matter how many black metal chests I fill with materials. But there's two aspects of the game that have been spoken about on reddit to great lengths prior and I think the new update will force the hand for two new improvements that are sorely needed. I've marked them as spoilers below for those that have not experienced the new update to its fullest and may not want game play spoiled. Again, these are wishes and reading into how the game is playing right now. Merely observations. Feel free to share yours!

  1. Inventory Management – I've had a long spell of arguing against this due to carts. But anyone that has cast a spell with a staff knows that inventory space is the biggest enemy towards USING these spells. Not even to be effective, but to cast some spells you need to account for too many bag spaces. Food and potions were bonuses before, but the new combat nearly requires it and any voyage is cut into a quarter of what it once was because I have 4 slots to fit quite a bit of new materials. I'd love to just get designated armor slots and I think that could solve the issue, but there's a bottleneck in game play due to bag space that needs to get addressed in some fashion.
  2. Skills – Maybe this even ties into inventory management, by merging jump and run into a Stamina skill that allows for a higher weight cap of bag space. But spells are the first iteration for me to pay attention to my skills and I'd love to see an expansion of skills. This doesn't consider removing death penalties, but could certainly incorporate changing that in some way. Imagine unlocking a third type of attack by hitting a certain weapon skill? Or maybe threshold caps that become your skill floor once passed to maintain some linear progression? The whole aspect kinda feels half-baked and I think it could use some attention to improve its effect. Right now I feel like you're either a perfectionist or willfully negligent of this area of the game that should/could be right along side your interest in progressing gear, food, etc..

Again, these are belabored points on this sub but they are especially glaring given the new content. Would love to hear what others think or have discovered. Otherwise, I'm quite impressed with the new additions and the direction the game appears to be heading. And for all those waiting to build dvergr doors and docks, keep your fingers crossed with me.
