Hey guys,
I will start by that this isn't a rant, just a thought I had and I am interested to hear what you guys think, I will also say that I was really hyped for the last expansion, and generally I think CDPR did great job with it.
To the point – I think that with the addition of those 3 cards, Aerondight, Ring of Favor and Censer, the game has added 3 new items that are relevant to all decks (censer being an exception), that you have to play around every single game for the threat of them being present in the enemy deck
(You can add Vigo's muzzle to that list, though I think that it isn't nearly on the same level of the above offenders)
The main reason that you need to play around those cards is because of that for most of the time, you don't know if your opponent packed them until you actually see them played against you (while typically, you will have a rough idea what to play around, you know that most NG decks have Yenvo, you know that most syndicate games will end with Savolla + KOB, etc etc).
Another problem with these things is that they are added to the list of things you already play around, be it tall punish, the current strong card of the meta, and of course the usual things that unique to each deck – I think that the list of things to play around in the current version of Gwent is way too big.
Bottom line (not TL:DR) –
I think that CDPR needs to be very careful with neutral pay-off cards, as they are always at risk of becoming a card that needs to be played around in every single matchup (similiar how we used to play around Yrden in every single game, vetrans of the game may remember the times where we played around both Igni as well)
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
