I'm sure this will be an unpopular take on this sub, but the whole rationale behind nerfing skill gain was to prevent people from cheesing them for mechanical advantage. What the upcoming rework of strength and endurance shows, however, is that BSG isn't planning to remove the huge mechanical incentives for maxing them (increased run speed, increased jump, elite endurance actually better than before because now it gives increased stamina), and cheesing is still far and away the most effective way to level them up. All the change accomplished was gating skill gain behind even more tedium and widening the gap between regular players and those willing to cheese it in the least fun ways possible like reloading in a bush for 5 minutes and then blowing themselves up with a grenade over and over.
If cheesy shit was going to continue to be the primary and only efficient way to level them, I would have preferred the old system honestly. BSG should stop worrying about trying to time gate everything to make people play longer each wipe, and instead worry about making these systems actually feel satisfying and rewarding. Capping out on Sniper skill after five hits or seeing no Strength gain after a few grenades is neither of those things. Maxing out your skill gain in the first 10-15 minutes of a 50 minute raid when you're not even actively trying to max them out is neither of those things.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
