I know there are a lot of people starting off in Tarkov, I'm not advocating that you USE the SKS, its a good gun. I just wanted to give some info into transitioning the SKS from a tree branch to a Tactical Tree branch, its not hard its just weird, for one specific reason.. the Dovetail.

There are 2 SKS "lowers" or "bases" that actually makes the gun a gun, its the BASE that you put all the parts on. there is the "SKS" and the "OP-SKS" from the traders their stocks are different colors, but they are swappable so be careful. they are also named slightly different, on the flea market the OPSKS shows up as "hunting rifle version" you NEED to see if the gun has a "mount" slot.

so, to summarize, if you want to mount anything on an SKS, without using the Socom rail, you need a dovetail thats compatible with the actual body. Dont get scammed, check to make sure if you buy from the flea market, that there IS the dovetail mount, and please also make sure it has a magazine, your getting scammed otherwise. and that ability to put the dovetail mount is compatible with all the SKS "bodys" including the tapco.

TLDR: you can buy the Dovetail mount from Jaeger, 2 matches or 6100 rouples, but It will still only fit on the "OP-SKS" body, and it wont go on the gun otherwise.

Hope this made sense, i'm bad at explaining things, I just remember trying to figure this out, and try to explain it to new players.

Quick Edit: If you inspect a normal SKS on the flea market there is a "mount" slot, that is for the Socom rail, the Hunting rifle variant has 2 Mount slots, one is just occupied by the actual dovetail.
