So, I commented this on a post pointing out the new STW pack is just the game and 1k v-bucks. I'll make some edits to it ofc. It if you saw it there thats why it may look familiar. I just felt it was important enough to make a post about.
Whilst the change is a little weird, I have a feeling there's a reason for it. And while we don't know if the new pack is permanent or a placeholder, here's my theory as to why I think it's permanent.
They might release two versions. One for people who haven't bought the game and want to try it, and another that you can buy as a new player— but is geared towards players who buy the starters even when owning the game.
The current one js for people who just want the game that you only need to buy once. It's cheaper, comes with 1k v-bucks for challenges, and is good for people who want to try out the game with less fomo or risk attached to it because it'll always be there as an option to buy. It'll work as a way of introducing the game to players and be a safer option of doing so for the consumer.
Another version that will change is the skin pack we're all accustomed to. It'll be more expensive, but it'll come with an Outfit backbling, and Pickaxe— along with 1.5k v-bucks like they've been offering since Mecha-Pop. And due to the price increase causing it to be just slightly lower than the 2.8k v-buck option now— Epic can if they wanted to bump it up to 2k v-bucks instead as that middle ground era, but this is just wishful thinking on my part.
Now what is my proof this isn't just going to be permanent? Well, good news for us is that there is a pack being developed. We have a name, just nothing else in the files regarding it. Not only that, you know how I'm BR they always sell starters intended for new players, but you can still buy even if you bought last season's? Yeah, basically that's how it's gonna work (as of it hasn't already). And finally, one more thing I want y'all to take into consideration is this. Last season was huge for STW. Outside of a new biome for ventures, the gamemode reached multiple peaks over the course of a single month. I think with that information Epic realized for sure that the game does have some sort of appeal, and there is still an audience for it. With the new cheaper pack, it'll help incentivize even more new players to try out the game.
Epic may neglect the game, and the game definitely needs more love. But don't see this as writing on the wall of the game dying just yet. It very well may be the opposite and Epic is trying to capitalize on that momentum. With new players, they can see that the game whilst not bad can be in better shape! They can help us make epic realize this game is absolutely worth saving and giving polish too. I mean, they've been doing a lot more for it this past year or so alone than we could have ever gained back in 2020 right? I know y'all care about this game, and I'm sure as hell there's some devs who care too! But don't instantly jump to the worst conclusions yet. Despite everything we're still here. We're gonna be alright. Epic knows this and knows a lot more than we give them for. Don't stop loving this game enough to call for changes in it. The more you claim the game is dead or that you're gonna give up on it, the more likely epic is gonna actually kill it. Our voices matter either way.
