I apologize if this is a duplicate conversation that's already happened months ago, as far as I can tell it isn't but Reddit's search function is absolute garbage so who even knows.
Anyway, as the title says, I was putting together a Challenger with the intention of using it for undermining other factions in Power Play just because being a state-sponsored terrorist sounds kinda fun. I was stumped on what to put in the trio of Class 2 hardpoints on the underbody of the ship and decided to give these things a try. Turns out, if you can avoid cooking yourself they're actually kind of awesome! Between the 90-something AP value and the thermal damage type, they're a pretty damn effective anti-everything weapon that's easy to use against even fast movers due to the buffed projectile speed. When they were added to the game I feel like they kinda got ignored since there's better options for Thargoid combat, not to mention the damage bug and the (now sadly nerfed) burst gauss stole the spotlight.
The biggest downsides to them are the absolutely ludicrous heat and power burden they put on your ship, but those can be designed around. Anyone else spend time using these things? What are your thoughts?
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
