So many people say that helmets are useless, and I wonder if I’m playing the same game

The point that they make is easy to understand: at this point of the wipe, it's not worthy to take a helmet with you unless it's a heavy one, like an Altyn. Instead, just run with good headsets, body armor and ammo.

Ehm… no. Just STOP giving out that advice; I've killed dozens of well geared guys that weren't carrying a helmet, and you know why? Because they weren't using it. One example is a guy I just killed in Labs, carrying a lvl 6 armor, full modded Mutant, Comtac 4… but no helmet. He just ate a single M856A1 round that hit in the very edge of the hitbox, which means he could've ricocheted it.

We all know that even good helmets can't withstand a single bullet in many situations, but this is only partially true. There are many situations that happen quite often in which you really want a helmet:

  1. When you shoot a good round from medium range, and hit it in the very center of the head, the enemy will die most of the times. But if the bullet hits a side of the head, it WILL ricochet many, many times, at least if we're talking about decent lvl 4 / high ric. chance helmets, such as ULACH, Gallet, etc…
  2. When the round is not good. As most people don't carry many good rounds, if you wasted your enemy's mag, he may start using worse rounds, which increase the chance to resist a direct bullet (not a ricochet).
  3. You'll be saved countless times from Scav's buckshots, which can be deadly even at long distances if they hit an unarmored part. If "head – eyes" is a pain for you (which can be fixed with the visors), you'll feel even more pain when you get one-shot in the nape or top of the head from behind by a random scav.
  4. When running, your head is MUCH less vulnerable with a helmet. You do not only have the increased ricochet chance; you can even increase it by looking down. That causes many, many shots to ricochet instead of landing in your face.

So yes, they cost money, but for god's sake, not that much. I just saw a streamer recommending to use an AVS armor (which is extremely expensive) and to not run a helmet, and I'm like… sorry, what? You're willing to risk that item and not to buy some inexpensive brown ULACH, which has a pricetag of no more than 55-68k?

But hey, keep not using the helmet; I'm profiting so much on helmetless gigachads lvl 40+, that I'd rather keep that trend up ;)!

What do you think about this? Pro-helmet or anti-helmet, and why?
