Valve, kinda imply they didnt actually talk with anyone in the sports org untill it was too late. Ive seen swedish esport personallities point this out, the fact that they seemingly counted on the sports org accepting esports as a sport is a bit worrying cause them not doing that was 100% expected.
Valve claimed that Stockholm Live and Visit Stockholm assured them stuff would be fine. Here is the thing tho, these are both companies. One is the owner of the arena and is private, the other is owned by Stockholm muniplicacy iirc. Neither has any kinda power or knowledge to actually make it count as a sport.
Idk why they told Valve everything would be fine but that fiasco isnt on the Swedish goverment, its on these two companies feeding Valve false info, and arguably, on Valve for blindley trusting them.
I do wish the Swedish athlete org wouldnt be behind the time but honestly to me a lot of things seems to have gone wrong here and its not all on the swedish government.
