For starters: I LOVE this game. I have sank 3500+ hours into it, gotten Kappa majority of wipes, and I still get the shaky hands after intense fights after 3500 hrs. I also love introducing new players to the game and watching them experience their first kill, or find that first high value loot item, or complete an especially difficult task.
There is no other game (currently) that is close enough to Tarkov to make me put it down. I am passionate about this game's continued development, and I fear that of all the issues that this game currently faces, which is a long list mind you, cheating will be the one that kills it.
W/o a social media following, and given BSG's notorious support reputation, I find that Reddit is the only place that these opinions and issues can be expressed w/ the highest potential of getting seen/gaining momentum.
While it is true that there will be cheaters in any game, and no company has been able to fully eradicate this issue, BSG can and needs to do better. Cheating has gotten exponentially worse over the past few wipes, this one being the worst. Some of the recent "measures" taken by BSG seem at best to be lip service, and at worst – a hinderance the legit players (no dropping of keys, quest items) with no real effect on the ability for RMT to occur (paid carries for instance.) There are also way more folks who seem to just be rage hacking.
This game isn't COD, where you just drop into a new game if a cheater kills you. Sure its frustrating, but nowhere near as punishing as Tark. For the average player, having to spend a few of their precious gaming hours gathering the resources necessary to run a nice kit, spending time in raid, just to loose it to an unfair fight is unsat.
With the amount of bad behavior in the game right now, there needs to be a firmer stance taken. I am no software developer, so I do not have all the solutions, but there are a ton of suggestions that make sense:
Account reviews for folks with insane stats, implementing a kill cam (probs v difficult but would help show both perspectives), making the report button actually do something, etc.
I am tired of hearing folks defend BSG for one reason or another (small team, small budget, etc.) Many of us have paid $120 for this game. There are an estimated 14million people who have purchased the game. BSG saying that they are stepping up their efforts to reduce cheating, but then doing shit like offering discounts for multiple account purchases RIGHT after a ban wave is enabling this bullshit to continue.
Having the attitude of "we all know its an issue so stop complaining" will not get action taken to fix this issue. If it isn't significantly reduced, this game will die. I personally want to keep enjoying the punishing nature of this game for a long time, and want to continue to see BSG build out their vision for it.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
