I had a fighter bay since before i even tried out the combat tutorials, and credit to the gameplay, there was a lot more to do than keyboard/mouse dogfighting in the game.

it's sad to reflect on the equity built into the NPC's bringing them up to Elite from zero, 10% for an elite NPC with fixed weapons is, in horizons at least, a good deal. not so much lately in the version of odysey with sittable chairs. this trade really underwhelms the playerbase.

for those unaware, if you spend weeks grinding guardian relics and purchase the guardian SLF's, you can't enjoy them in odysey, the ammo dies and stays gone, for all your glowing blue SLF's since patch 6.

you may als think that an NPC might help with thargoid dogfights. again, you may have gone to the guardian systems with this in mind… only to find out that NPC or no, Thargoids will scare away whichever ship you aren't piloting until the 20km limit is breached.

The guardian plasma SLF is OP, but if you like to mix some concourse visits or settlement raids with the massacres you will find the lack luster SLF options are really just disproportional drag on your EXP.

I'm just venting, im sure there is a bug fix down the road but until such point I'll have to examine my line-up a little closer to recoup forward rank progress in the mean time.

In my journey, the NPC was pivotal to getting the colonia engineering unlocked with the CZ's using a Krait II you can buy once you get there. it has escaped my notice over time that with increased engineering the usefulness of a fighter bay becomes less and less. I'm documenting my wake up call here. I actually went through several early NPC's because most are annoying or as someone on reddit put it, are women that "look like bulldogs". so i have a halfway decent (though wrinkly) looking SLF pilot with a nice soundtrack. until i hit send and get into port next.
