Hello friends.

Anyone who might recognise my Reddit username might know that I have been working my way through a list of wishes on Elite Dangerous since cancellation of console development.

For those that don’t, the TLDR read is: discovered ED last November when I was bed-bound with COVID, fell HARD for this game, and have done pretty much everything I wanted except buy an FC and play in a squadron on open, so what should I do? <<<<<

What a game! Currently mining the hell out of the triple plat in Parrot’s Head in my engineered Cutter, and my god, I am loving it. This game has ruined me for all other gaming experiences. I’m hoping that Two Point Campus, release date postponed from May to August, will be my methadone to get me off my ED addiction.

So, in the meantime, I’ve started to think that I might actually try to achieve a goal I had previously discarded. Buy a Fleet Carrier!

I have about 360 million. Making 70 an hour in the Cutter.

1. Do you think I should carry on mining to get the FC money? Should I try a different way?
2. How much should I save to get what I need? How much do I need to get a effective FC? I mean above and beyond the cost price?
3. Is it worth it? Is having a carrier satisfying? Can I park it somewhere and allow cmdrs to sell plat to me, and how does that all work anyway?
4. I haven’t been able to join a squad yet. I’ve tried various Discords and have had no luck. What do I do?

FYI I am a Mac not a PC, so probably will not do the account transfer. Unless I get some kind of Boot Camp/Parallels setup.

1. Who here has done that successfully?

I have appreciated all the subreddit help and support I have received over the last seven months, even when my questions have been stoopid and usually already answered in the pinned FAQ posts. I just enjoy connecting with other CMDRs!
