The easy, fun, gameplay enhancing ship interiors.

Of all the ship interior messages I've seen on the forums, or on reddit, I don't know why all of them insist somehow on ships being able to be in "real space" while you're walking around the ship interior.

Truth of the matter is, flying your ship while you're inside of it is stupid, both from gameplay, but also lore, and it's ridiculously complicated.

So here is my suggestion, that would be simple to implement, provide increased IMMERSION(TM) and wouldn't even require any new game features added to the engine.

Make ship interiors their own instance.

When out of combat for at least x amount of time, allow players to leave their cockpit despawning it from whatever instance they're in (super cruise or normal space) and have the ship be it's own instance and map.

On this map, all we really need are largely empty hallways that are fun to look at, and a galley or some sort of observation deck where NPC's gather. These NPC's could either be hired, or just stationed automatically on the ship and can give you missions. (For instance imagine having a contact for each of the 3 big factions onboard that you can go to for missions that are in or the system you're in) reducing the need to dock and leave stations each time you want to request a mission.

No need to worry about getting players to walk around properly in a ship that's moving, and no need to worry about collisions with moving game objects. We know the game engine is capable of doing this, because it's essentially what happens. every. single. time. you go boots on ground in a station.

This would allow you to get that IMMERSION(TM), and actually improve the gameplay experience.

Also this would only really apply for ships of sufficient size. I don't think anyone actually wants to walk around an empty sidewinder or eagle.
