The fact that majority of the playerbase doesn’t know how to play the game correctly is Epic’s fault

Let’s be honest here, STW is pretty complicated. I’ve been playing more STW this past three weeks, and I can honestly say that the game is in the worst state since the Jail build meta. One of the biggest problems in the game is the state of pubs.

Playing with others is a core part of the game. There’s literally missions that tell you you should have multiple people. But pubs is becoming increasingly unplayable.

While there are competent players in pubs, you only get those players like 1 in 15 missions. I’m not exaggerating i have not had a SINGLE mission this past week where someone was doing something wrong and I had to fix their mistakes.

The amount of people who don’t know basic fundamentals of this game (like: elements, what material to use, basic traps, how certain modifiers work, etc) is insane. But what’s even worse, is the AFK’s and Leachers (more on that later)

The people who don’t know the correct way to play the game are ALWAYS in the highest power missions. Everyone knows by now that if you see a lynx player to just leave the game and save yourself the trouble. It’s honestly just sad that this is where we are with this game. You know who we can directly blame for it? Epic themselves.

STW is a pretty complicated game. There’s lots of important things to know about the game. But epic barely explains ANYTHING. The little help tab is literally buried away in a corner and there is no proper tutorial. That’s why most people get to Twine thinking lynx is the best hero in the game, not knowing how elements work, and thinking that wood is acceptable in twine.

Epic should have added a tutorial. One that explained traps, elements, building, survivors, perks and heroes. We wouldn’t be here if we had tutorials in this game. And if we did have these tutorials then every incentive to play the game should be LOCKED behind them so people don’t just ignore them in an attempt to get v-bucks

And AFK’s and Leachers. Those have a simple solution. If you’re AFK or leaching then you get a 7 day ban. The stupid 24hr ban in MAYBE a year is insane. People get like 50 reports, and get only 24hrs before they can go back to doing the same thing.

Here’s my idea: add a tutorial. A real one. Every time you reach a certain level you unlock a tutorial mission that you have to pass before advancing to the next level (similar to warframe’s mastery test system but way less grindy). These missions wouldn’t be optional. You wouldn’t be able to play any other mission until you finish them. And for the first time completing them, you’d get a small reward box.

These tutorials would educate players about everything from power levels, to survivors to structures.

We as a community have done our part. We’ve made guides, told people in chat, and showed people how to play but most simply won’t listen EVEN WHEN THEY ARE WRONG. This is a multi-billion dollar company, and it’s time for them to take some responsibility.
