The Lormark Wars between Kaedwen and Aedirn included notable figures also represented in Gwent. Vandergrift on the side of the Kaedweni; Seltkirk on the side of the Aedirnians. Thematically, a lot of cards belong to this conflict: Vandergrift’s Blade, Sabrina Glevissig, Sabrina’s Inferno, Draug, Damned Sorceress, Forbidden Magic, Kaedweni Revenant, Kaedweni Cavalry, Kaedweni Knight, Kaedweni Sergeant, Dun Banner.
Kaedweni Cavalry wants his shield to be removed, which can be done by Damned Sorceress and Sabrina’s Inferno. It would make sense that a card strongly synergizing with this strategy, namely Immortals, would thematically belong to this archetype. Immortals has nothing to do with the Kaedwen-Aedirn conflict, however. Vandergrift does. This archetype, which includes a lot of cursed units, would be tied together by Adda (somewhat unfortunate thematically).
Vissegerd was a Cintrian marshal and knight, loyal to Calanthe. Thematically, what we now call the Knights archetype has some notable connections to Cintra. Cintrian Knight is a staple in the deck, because of its Grace. Another card that clearly belongs to Knights is Knighthood, which depicts a Cintrian being Knighted (note the yellow and blue: colors of Cintra). Currently, Vissegerd sees no play in the Knights archetype, but Vandergrift does.
Finally, the lore behind Immortals mentions that their strength comes from their large numbers. It would only make sense for this card to be played in a deck that has a large number of soldiers, and that it would draw benefit from this mechanic. Immortal Cavalry supports this as well. Extracting value from a (boosted) swarm belongs to Vissegerd, however.
So then here are the suggested ability swaps:
Vandergrift gets the ability of Immortals
Vissegerd gets the ability of Vandergrift
Immortals gets the ability of Vissegerd
Dryad Matron is depicted teaching a young dryad to “fletch arrows, commune with the forest, slit the throats of men”. There is a clear duality of nurture and violence here. Dryads as a whole strongly synergize with Vitality, and they tend to have rows full of units due to Symbiosis.
Cat Witcher Adept is depicted balancing a rope. The Cat Witchers are notorious for their agility and movement. It would make sense for this card to synergize with that mechanic.
So then here are the suggested ability swaps:
Dryad Matron gets the ability of Cat Witcher Adept
Cat Witcher Adept gets the ability of Dryad Matron
There are many more cards that could benefit from swapping abilities. This would require very minimal labour on the side of development: no new code would have to be created. So my question is: can this still be done?
