Things I wish we had or that were better…

Full disclosure: I love this game and I'm not hating on it. But I'd like to see certain things done a bit better for that reason, and hopefully eventually there will be a lot of quality of life improvements added. Also I'm aware there's probably mods for a lot of this, but I'd really rather not use them.

And look, I understand that part of this game's charm is that there's always so much to do, and if things were "too easy" then we'd have a lot less to keep us occupied in between patches/expansions. But yeah… I do think there's such a thing as having *too much* to do, it can be quite overwhelming for single players, especially once you've really started expanding your base.

And hey… if these things ever are added… there could be a separate "Classic Mode" for people who prefer things the way they are now: everybody wins in that scenario.

  1. The time resin lasts should be extended by a little (10-20%?). It's plenty long enough for a small hut with 1-2 torches or sconces, but it's when you start getting lots and lots of torches and sconces to light up large bases or villages that it becomes a full time job just to fuel them.
  2. The range on "Comfort" items is weird and should also be extended. There's narrow corridors in my house where my comfort is 12 and 13, but everywhere else it's 9 or 10. My house isn't even that big or intricately designed.
  3. Speaking of extending the range of things… workbenches and stonecutters. There's really just no reason to have the range be as small as it is, even if simply building multiple workbenches solves it. Having them scattered everywhere can be an eyesore even when you find creative ways to integrate them.
  4. Tamed animals go through food SO FAST. Wish there was a way to get them to slow down, or that their hunger wasn't so frequent.
  5. It would be nice if at some point, certain mobs learned not to mess with you/to fear you. It's really annoying to have to kill 5-8 Greylings per day because they just always appear to mess with you or your base. Would be cool if they ran from you on sight like deer and stayed away from your structures after a while.
  6. Endgame teleports. I actually don't agree with all the people who say we should just be allowed to teleport ores and ingots freely… at least not in the early game. But when you get close to endgame and travel becomes a near constant, which will only get worse with future patches and expansions… an endgame teleport of some kind that lets you move ores and ingots would be dope.
  7. Enchanted Wards to reduce the number of raids, or even prevent raids from certain mobs (*coughdrakescoughtrollscough*). These could be a mid to endgame item that players can build in/around their homes to reduce the likelihood of raids occurring. There could be different kinds of wards for different kinds of raids etc. I know moats are a thing but yeah. What if I'm going for a specific look and don't want one?
  8. Maybe this'll be implemented someday, but I'd love to be able to unlock a cape or some kind of item that allows us to fly.
  9. Lox Saddlebags. For the love of god, add these!
  10. If we can't have Lox Saddlebags, maybe some kind of backpack to extend our inventory space.
