I've died to Scav-on-Scav violence every raid for the last three days. I don't feel like it was this bad at the beginning of the wipe, presumably while people were getting their karma up to just the right amount to not have to worry about it as much, but now that we're at least a week into it I'm sure the tradeoff of .03 karma for whatever loot you may have as a Scav isn't much of a deterrence…
I know all the mechanics that Scav Karma is currently tied to but what sort of developments have Battlestate Games hinted to or expressed an intention to implement further down the road?
One recommendation I saw here a few days ago was to spawn tagged and cursed Scavs with blackened limbs or 0 hydro/energy. I think this could work alright though I can also see where it would just put more incentive to drop any other Scavs for potential food/med sources…
To anyone that played the Arma2DayZMod: if you remember the karma system in that where it would change up your apparel to match your playstyle, I believe that would have a good place in this game. Nothing too restricting, but maybe have 3-5 "good" or "neutral" karma outfits and 3-5 "bad" karma outfits to telegraph to other players that you probably couldn't be trusted. Red track suit pants would be a good "red flag" to other scavs so they know to either stay away from you or assume you've already been on your b.s.
I've also seen people recommend implementing a hitbox around the player that allows for you to shoot back without losing any karma even if you weren't hit directly. I feel like this would end up being more taxing on the server-side of things in a game that always has people hating on the hit-reg or desync, but it's another option…
I hate dying to a Scav as a Scav but I do like the idea of people having the option to be that kind of player if they want: I just want something to help people who aren't doing this sort of thing stay alive and have a chance.
