The Dark Horse of Western Europe
11/30/2021
After a grueling month, the DPC has finally come to quench our thirst for competitive DOTA, and it is looking exciting! In Western Europe, one of our first matches is between the new Team Secret and the new OG, but our eyes should be on another match from a team we haven’t seen in a long time. Team Tundra. Tundra faces off against Alliance in the first match of the DPC, and I suspect Tundra will be a dominant force this season.
It has been a while, but Tundra made many fans with their dominant performance in the Western European TI qualifiers four months ago, barely losing in a best of five to OG. They brought new strats we haven’t seen before. Nines Winter Wyvern Mid became the first ban first pick, in pros and pubs alike. 33’s Helm of the Dominator rush became standard and made me a fan with his courier sniping.
That wasn’t Tundra’s only top performance this year. They also took first at ESL ONE Fall, beating both TI finalists, Team Spirit and PSG.LGD, just two months before TI. They had another outstanding performance at the OGA DOTA PIT Invitational, only placing below the 2021 TI finalists. Who knows what they would have brought to TI if they managed to secure that qualifier.
But the past is behind us, and they are ready to dominate this season. My eyes are on this team as the ones to place first in the Western European DPC. Not only are they keeping their star roster, but they have brought on TI winner AUI to coach them. With their creative and unique playstyle and talented roster, I see Team Tundra taking this region by storm.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
