Hey there people,
I started playing Tarkov around 3.5 months ago, and I have around 650 hours of playtime. I'm playing mostly solo raids, bringing my best gear almost every time unless I'm extremely short on money which rarely happens since making money is so easy in this game. I deeply enjoy Tarkov and honestly think that right now, there's no other FPS that can compete. The amount of customization possible on weapons, the sheer number and diversity of items, the extremely sweaty and adrenaline-inducing gunfights and many other things are just too good. There is however a major problem for me, and many others no doubt, which makes me want this wipe to be my last.
I play in Japan servers, and as you might guess, servers around here are usually infested with cheaters in literally all online games, and Tarkov is no different. I've died to cheaters more times than I can count in the short time that I've been playing, and I really hate the fact that besides a simple reporting system, there's nothing more to do. There's no notice to know if a cheater you've reported gets a ban, and there's no spectate option to get a video clip of the cheater as hard proof. Once you die to a cheater, you have to accept the fact that you just wasted at least 20 minutes of your time on that specific raid, and all your gear is lost (which also took time to obtain through other raids, hideout management, scav runs, etc.).
Just before playing Tarkov, I played some The Cycle: Frontier, and even though the cheating issue nearly killed that game (and they're still struggling with it), they added a cheater compensation system which means that whenever you die to a cheater, you'll get all your lost gear back. This addition singlehandedly made the cheater issue in The Cycle much more bearable. I think Tarkov would benefit hugely from a similar system both for the players and the devs alike. On top of being a frustrating and demotivating experience, dying to cheaters creates this idea that the issue is not being seriously dealt with by the people behind the game. I'd understand if Tarkov was a free to play game as cheaters have a much easier time accessing the game even after an account ban (which is the case in PUBG, Warzone, and many other F2P games), but right now, I don't think there's any excuse for how big of a cheater problem Tarkov currently has.
What are your thoughts on this? If there's any way, how do you avoid cheaters? Also, how's your experience with the cheating issue in Tarkov in general?
