I wanted to find Haldor before I did these things, obviously for the head lamp and carry belt. Which makes sense for my next adventure in the gloom with weighty loot. I've already got a forward base set up and I can get started on my metal work and so forth running back to base and crafting. Yet, I've just spent the last 3 or so hours aimlessly sailing the coasts in my karve dealing with endless headwinds, fog and storms while avoiding plains and mistlands as I'm not ready for them looking for a bag to pop in what seems like fewer and fewer black forest biomes.
It seems unnecessarily difficult when you're already leveled enough to to deal with black forests and swamps, you've picked a swamp you want to clear and more than likely finished up with the forest next to your meadow anyway. So to sail out in search of another forest and then assume you have to trudge through them because maybe you're not doing it right is a waste of time.
I wanted to find him organically, I haven't been playing long and as far as I knew "he's in the black forest" which of course I searched the two large ones near me in hope of finding him but to no avail. I get the exploring idea but after giving up and using a seed reveal; there's no way I would have just popped over there given the size and abundance within my starting location. As shown here.
Anyway, love the game just a little bummed out that everything else has been a neat reveal and this is just a pain in the arse.
Here's where I said fuck this.
And not once has a fish landed in my boat. That hurts the most.
