Valheim first impressions

I'm still new to this game, so please pardon my poor terminology.

You know that scene at the end of Kill Bill v2 where she's laying on the floor, crying tears of joy, because she finally overcame the terror in her life? Thats me right now in my head. My wife is playing NMS a few feet away from me and she has no idea that I am an erupting emotional volcano, on the inside, right now.

I very much enjoyed the early EARLY stage of this game when I was running around nude, plucking dandelions and grabbing stones. You have no idea how excited I was when I built a hammer and ultimately a workbench! Oh the possibilites! Im going to build Peach's Castle from Mario Kart and rule it with my world class armor and weapons!

I ran into a deer, whopped his ass! Discovered my first Greydwarf, i sent him to his maker with my brute fists! I was DESTINED FOR GREATNESS in this game!

Day 3…I wander in to a lovely forest in search of Boars because my jewels grew cold and I needed some leather to craft some clothes. I see a lovely colored stone! "What is this?", I ask. The text warned me about the forest I was in and I brushed iT off because you know what? Whatever is in this cursed forest can CATCH THIS LEVEL 8 HAND COMBAT! I spot my boar, i crouch and began to plot my surprise attack….WHAM!!! In comes the ass kicking of a lifetime by a group of Greydwarfs! One of these bastards even has a star next to his name. WTF?! Why do you have a star!? These monsters absolutely tear me up like I was Sasha making a comeback!

I died…i woke up on the original stones and had absolutely nothing in my bag…still nude, still cold.

Whatever, lesson learned, I'm going back after them. I'll be extremely patient and disciplined, I dont care if this turns into a 1hr battle, I'm going to bring the pain to these MFs! I head back and I find them…only for it to turn out to be Sasha's comeback part 2. Fuck it, I'll go build a little house right outside the forest, train and get ready to go back after them when I'm ready. They leave their forest because they spot me right outside and whoop my ass again.

I wanted to die for real.

I finally swallowed my pride and spent the next couple of hrs focusing on setting up a nice camp, collecting food, and actually crafting a spear and shield. By then I had also grew levels and noticed an overall improvement of my character.

Day 11, I have some leather chaps on, a rag-shirt, a spear and a shield. Im ready. I honestly felt like a completely different player by then. I understood the combat mechanics, i knew how to time the dodge-rolls, I could swing a freaking stick with a pointing flint. I head back to that forest, spot the gang that wrecked havoc on me for what felt like a lifetime, and bring those trolls to justice. I ended their lives right there. In the same place they call home.

I walked back, to my camp a full grown man. I did it. wipes tears. I FUCKING DID IT!

This game is amazing! There is a true sense of accomplishment here. This may seem comical to others but god damn as someone who had no idea what they were getting in to with this game…i did it man….i did it.

Anyone else go in to this game blind and get absolutely shitted on?

Thanks to everyone on here that has shared info on how to be better at this game. Looking forward to the rest of this journey!
