Had to switch back to no mods to get into Mistlands, and man, the vanilla game is PAINFULLY tedious.
Can’t craft from surrounding chests, have to literally grab every item needed for every crafting item. Don’t remember the recipe? Gotta look several times and then go rummage through every chest (even with organized chests it’s tedious) to find the resources, and make sure to grab the RIGHT AMOUNTS too. Where’s the QoL? Why is living in my base just as much of a chore as the survival?
Auto fueling is also a huge time saver. Why can’t this game feature “hoppers” like most automation games? The game loop demands us to maintain large farms and resource pools for smelting and such but gives us absolutely no automation. After trying to smelt and mine copper I remember how horrible it is.
The armor slots and auto sort are also huge benefits and I feel don’t take anything away from the game other than tedious non-fun restrictions like your inventory being occupied by the very clothing your wearing.
I get it, it’s a survival game, but there’s just some glaring stuff that feels just painfully grindy about the base game now that I’ve gone back to it.
Anyone else prefer those mods?
