Fine. Agreed. Valve have to make a profit. But you're forgetting the other side.
We are the customers. We are allowed to give feedback. In fact, we are encouraged to. When there is uproar over the monetization of the battle pass, that is feedback Valve needs to understand and respond to.
Not only that, when Valve fail to understand what the customers want and need from a product, they fail to give a better product. Therefore, they also fail to get the maximum profits that they could. Striking a balance between 'grindability' and 'paid content' in the battle pass will draw the most number of players from playing the game and wanting to buy the battle pass.
Even from a business perspective, they are being foolish and hastily making the most greedy short-term decisions, instead of thinking in the long term and sustaining the game, therefore selling shit to players for a longer period of time.
P.S. Valve are hyper aware of the reaction. They have employees checking the subreddit every day. They fixed Yuma's block in under 24 hours. Keep in mind, despite this, they have done nothing to change the battle pass so far. Think about it.
