Veritas video on zeroing made me think about possible "intermediate" improvements to long range gunplay in general, simple realistic effects that can be added to add visibility to a bullets trajectory.
The disruption of the surrounding air that a bullet causes as it flies creates a faint but still visible swirl in the air, if this was in the game in combination with significantly increased render distance for impact VFX (dirt kicking up, sparks, impacts…) long range gunfights could actually become fun, the visual feedback from these two simple effects would allow players to realistically and intuitivley adjust their fire until theyre dead on and take someone out at long range. Tracer rounds would have an especially visible trajectory, since the burning magnesium/phosphor compound in the base of the cartridge emits smoke which would be visible as a thin trail that dissipates quickly. Looks very cool, look it up.
No need for guesstimated range-cards on a second monitor for sniping, no need to use the broken zeroing increments, no being forced to use the Vudu or Valday scopes exclusivley for sniping because they happen to be the only ones with properly scaled and usable reticles. Just shoot, follow the visible trajectory, observe impact point and adjust intuitivley.
Theres a very good chance thag BSG wants to do this anyway, but maybe they cant because of performance and network issues?
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
