recently, I got deep into the BGS, and as an old-school roleplayer, it has been really fun to manipulate and deal with ED political landscape. so much so that I got to the point that I became hostile (reputation wise) with some minor factions. that said, I have been talking to people to understand it better, but I have too many conflicting information and insights. so here's what I am thinking.
combat bonds are a war and civil war exclusive thing. with that in mind, I assume it works just the same as trade or bounty would, but rather than a lever for influence, it only serves war or civil war, for obvious reason. it will also affect ur reputation, and it will do so both ways. add towards the bonds collector and subtract from ur victims' factions.
and that lead me to the main question/idea. I'd love to never have to work for the factions I eventually turn hostile. that will prevent me from using their stations and settlements, but hey, I got a fleet carrier, or I can go to an interstellar factor elsewhere and turn those bonds in for a price. the 25% tax on it makes it less efficient than simply delivering them on the systems stations, but hey…. I wanna keep my enemies hostile for two reasons: one, it's fun and challenging. I'd rather have to double my efforts operating on behalf of the factions I support than have to rebuild reputation with those I consider my enemies.
I'd love to read ur insights on it.
