"Hey guys! I just wanted to talk to you about a project I'm a part of. All credit goes to one of the two founding teams, but I'm taking the liberty to discuss us here in public.
The project is a Private League. We've created a specific Discord server for playing the matches, and our goal is to have around a dozen slots. Currently, we have 5 active teams, each with a competitive roster of roughly 5 players. The other invited teams are on "pause" because this wipe doesn't seem to be as popular as others, due to its short duration and the abundance of great games released in recent months.
The idea is for each team to play one match per week. We keep a score table with results of the played Bo3 or Bo5 matches. Teams can coordinate with each other to agree on a match date, but we set up a bot linked to a google sheet to have an organic scheduling.
The point works like this : 2 points per enemy killed and 1 point per ally kept alive. You win the match if you win the BO5. The point system is there to keep a « goalaverage » in the scoreboard.
Equipment-wise : limit of 4 grenades (smokes included). Only one player from each team is allowed to have a T6, the rest use T5. For helmets, only one player is allowed to play T5 + faceshield. Ammunition is limited to 180 max (loaders) plus one stack of ammunition. Only ammunition available from BUYING (not traded) from traders is allowed.
Matches are played offline, and we use scavs to spice up the games, but we're also testing matches without them like Shoreline.
Maps that are NOT in the pool :
· Reserve wich cant be played due to Glukar spawn.
· Lighthouse… Well, you know.
· Street for a performance reason.
· Factory
Team-Leaders use a VETO ban system to select the map we are going. Sometimes, when we play against teams we know well, we decide the 5 maps only one time before the entire match to be faster between each rounds.
To ensure that teams encounter each other randomly, we've selected areas on the maps where players are required to pass at least once. For example, on Customs: Dorms/Stronghold and the two construction sites in between. Once players have met, they are free to play the encounter as they see fit. However, camping in one area for more than 2-3 minutes is not allowed. The referee is there to remind them.
In case of a tight match going on for a while, we also have "final zones". In the last 7-6 minutes, the least players standing have to enter the final zone to not being disqualified. Players kill each other in the final zone and the game end. This subject is still in debate actually.
The feedback from the initial matches has been extremely positive, and some players have started playing again just to participate. It's a significant refreshment when considering the recent slowdown in gameplay from the last wipes. It's really enjoyable to be able to play to the full potential of your team without worrying about cheaters ruining a good gunfight or getting camped in a bush, etc.
We're not yet able to open the League to other language communities. First, we'd like to get feedback from the community, answer any questions we haven't thought of yet, and engage with those who may have also started similar projects on their own!"
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
