The devs have announced that only power and provision changes can be made by community balancing beginning in 2024. Ability changes can only be made by the devs in 2023, so now is the time to share any ideas before it's too late. What changes to do you want before end of 2023? Below are some changes I had in mind for favorite cards.
Graden – Change "Destroy an enemy unit with a Bounty" to "Destroy the enemy unit with Bounty", thereby removing the targeting condition. Allows destroying bounty units behind defender or with immune status, thereby synergizing with Witchfinder and Purge. Essentially would work like Scoundrel.
Geralt Aard – Change "move them to the Ranged row" to "move them to the opposite row". Enable set up for cards targeting enemy rows, especially the Melee ability of Gezras.
Viper Witcher Alchemist – Change ability to "Deploy: Boost self by the power of the top unit in your opponent's deck". Less RNG by enabling synergies with cards like Gorthur Gvaed, fits the "deck manipulation" theme of the viper school, and similar to Mentor's ability.
Harald Gord – Remove cap on boost amount. Supports spell ST archetype (Alzur, Orbs, Seer lists).
Ethereal – Give Cooldown 1. When Ethereal was released, it was a hard-to-control passive engine. Cooldown 1 would give Ethereal its unique "hard-to-control" feeling again without making it a passive engine.
Vial of Forbidden Knowledge – Change Order to "Boost an allied unit by 5 and give it Vitality (3)". Same points but more tempo and better short R3. With community balancing in 2024, 4-provision non-unit cards cannot be buffed. We have to rely on the devs in 2023 to buff any 4-provision non-unit cards, like Vial. Buffing Vial would encourage more open-decklist gameplay on ladder.
