Hey fellow Gwentelmen, I am trying to compile a list of archetypes that has been thought of / initialized, but were abandoned half-way or are far from viability. I do not want to include full-blown archetypes that are just some point-buffs away from making its way back to meta (Assimilate, I am looking at you). Rather pre-scenario Thrive, that needed some high-end golds to make it once of the best archetypes that there are.
Here is what I found so far:
Monsters:
– Beasts
– Ogroids (although I am not sure what this archetypes should do – probably some kind of auto-destroy that would support She-Troll, Kikimore Warrior, Tatterwing)
– Insectoids / Swarm
– Viy (I have a problem here, since it is dangerous to buff this card, but overall, this archetype is quite weak at this point and almost unplayable during seasons with Heatwave)
– Rat spam
Nilfgaard:
– Well, actually all of them need some kind of buff…
– Soldiers (once they find their identity)
– Spies (Emhyr and Vattier are not enough)
Northern Realms:
– Specters
– Deck boost (support for Erland, Archgriffin, Dandelion, Mad Kiyan)
Scoia'tael:
Actually, all of the archetypes seem more or less viable – maybe the weakest one is movement as Gezras cannot carry it on his own.
Skellige:
– Beasts
– Cultists (Artis and so on)
Syndicate:
– Blindeyes (scenario is not enough)
– Cutups
What other quasi-archetypes can you add to that list?
