I have seen a lot of discussion about the power-level of cards like Dame and Philippe, and I suspect that this heated debate will not die out in the coming months. That would mean yo-yoing the Balance Council every month, nerfing and buffing the most powerful elements of Status NG again and again. We don't want that.
Moreover, I have spoken out that I believe these cards are fundamentally problematic for the deck itself, so long as they are strong, the deck cannot be buffed in other more healthy ways, and I want to elaborate on what I mean with that.
This is why this post exists; I believe that the most efficient way to deal with this problem is to come to some sort of compromise about what to do about Status NG. Some of you out there might believe that the most efficient way is to just bully out the opposition, but I think that's not right, and likely won't work.
This is an open call for discussion. The main question being: 'What cards could we change in which ways to push Status NG in a healthy direction, excluding Philippe, Ball, Rompally, Battle Stations! and Dame (assuming it goes back to 6p)?' In other words, what card do you believe could be buffed to compensate for putting Dame to 6p, and making Philippe weaker (in BC1)? The goal here would be to normalize the power curve of the deck, spread out the love.
To (hopefully) get us started, here are a bunch of primers, buff ideas I had that might be interesting to talk about. Don't think that I am suggesting doing all of these buffs at the same time, just that I am throwing out ideas to try. I would at least like the deck to be more about spying than it is currently, which is what these buffs are targeted for. If you like the deck, I would especially like to hear your ideas and thoughts.
Hunting Pack: As has been mentioned elsewhere, the 5p thinners have been severely powercrept, and I have never even seen this one played.
Alba Pikeman: Likely a controversial change, and one that would play into the strategy of Philippe and Dame, but if Status gets further nerfs down the line, I think that this is something worth considering.
Seditious Aristocrats: Aristocrats is a vastly worse engine to Dame, and I don't see it very often. Could use a buff.
Mangonel: Underused engine that relies on spying, make spying great again.
Thanedd Turncoat: And another 4 to 5 power change to the list. Thanedd is rarely seen, but interesting enough imo to deserve a buff.
Angry Mob: Angry mob as is plays for 7 points if triggered. That's weird. It should play for 8.
Fercart: A possible spying engine? Might be worth a try.
Fergus var Emreis: It plays for around 10 points in my experience, that's not too crazy for a devotion card at 6. Could use the bump.
Emhyr var Emreis: I think this is a fine buff to really push status to other cards that I want to see more play, and I have heard people think he's a bit overcosted.
Fergus var Emreis: If you really want to push the card. It plays for 7 + 3x, where x is he amount of status/spying engines you have in play. Very strong, probably too much.
Vattier de Rideaux: Very interesting card. Disincentives locking opponents cards, instead yoinking them yourself.
I understand that this is a topic people won't like talking about. It is much easier standing on the sidelines shouting about how stupid the other side is. Let's come together and try to work something out.
