I'm seeing this narrative go around that somehow a big patch before the major means we won't necessarily see the best team win the major…. What?Since when is adaptation not only a skill in life in general but even more so in dota 2. Adaptation is a skill that only has become more and more relevant in dota 2 over the years and the recent TIs I think are beautiful examples of that.
The best team wins the major, period.
EDIT: I see so many replies that are trying to explain what the cons are. I fully understand the arguments people are making but I have yet to see one that holds any water. There is absolutely no difference between a no patch major and a patch major when it comes to strategy advantages. There is one thing that every official tournament has in common which is the teams that are losing in groups copy the strategy to at least some blatantly obvious level of the best teams in the groups. The idea that there arent new metas at tourneys because theres no patch is so flawed. Best example is Tundra.
