As the title says after seeing the DPC system in work last year i am baffled as to why it remained virtually unchanged with only some DPC points allocated from the division rankings to the majors.

My main problem with the current system is the 2 divisions split. I see no apparent gain or benefit from splitting a region's teams in 2 divisions.

First of the barrier of entry for any new org is much greater as they will probably have to start from div 2 and thus greatly reducing their opportunity to participate in a major and consequently at TI which is made to be the only thing that matters financially to say the least. I dont understand how Talon got convinced to make a div 2 team.
Secondly we all know and its becoming apparent that regions arent balanced in the skill of their teams with some regions having a very shallow pool of decent teams. Therefore we see the 8 teams division split in regions where only 2 or 3 teams are competing and in other regions we may have 6-7 teams being competitive and fighting for at least the wildcard spot in the major.

Thirdly it is extremely punishing for a team that gets relegated to the lower division and almost impossible to get to ti with dpc points. Thecoumter arguement is that they wouldn't get there either way if they aint good enough but i dont see the purpose in making it more top heavy than it already was.

What i believe should have happened: A single consolidated division containing teams from both the divisions.

My percieved benefits of this system: The fostering of the tier 2 scene which does not lack in player talent but in team skill and coordination, because new and untested teams have just not found the formula yet, by having official matches against stronger teams as well.

A security for existing teams and for every org that decides to invest in the dota 2 scene that the team will be able to compete for a major slot and consequently a TI slot every season maintaining motivation and fostering better competition.

Things i would consider neccessary for this to work:
A more consice and consolidated schedule for the division matched, something that will also provide space for independent tournaments.
