Huskar has always been one of my favorite heroes, but I see people shit on him all the time for either being garbage or being OP. What's funny is that IMO he's one of the most balanced heroes in the game. Skadi on a carry or Vessel on support wrecks his main strength, which is his ability to sustain. However, he can also fight back through alternative measures such as lifesteal or armor.
I'm a core player, mainly safelane/mid. I play safelane because it's the role I excel in. However, farming gets boring too quickly, so I switch it up sometimes, which led me to end up having a frightening amount of games on Invoker since he's extremely fun. But even Invoker, with his 16,000 buttons, gets boring sometimes. So boredom generally made me like dota less.
Why is this important? I played heroes that I don't usually play for a while so I can experiment and find something new for me to master. And that's when I came across Huskar. Ever since I decided that I'll master Huskar, my motivation to play skyrocketed. Seriously… I could pick Huskar every single game for a whole week and not get bored of playing him, and even though his basic mechanics are relatively simple, the hero, like most other heroes (except the likes of WK), is very complex and versatile.
The reason why I decided to post this is because in my last game. I was queued for midlane, and I ended up taking Huskar for the last pick (enemy mid fluked a Phoenix last pick). And so my teammates began to shit on my pick and call Huskar a garbage hero. They considered mid lost right off the bat (mind you this is low 6k mmr). So I decided to mute the negativity and just play. not 10 mins later, I was dominating mid and started ganking. And suddenly, enemies were calling Huskar a "broken pick; need 5000 gold item to counter; brainless hero; 2 buttons".
Now I don't really give a shit about being trash-talked and whatnot. But as I already mentioned. Aside from the traditional community's toxicity that we're all so familiar with. Why does Huskar specifically get this much hate? I personally think that his ultra-aggressive playstyle is very unique and fun to play. The moment that you decide to pounce onto your prey, it's all or nothing, no going back. WHICH IS SO MUCH FUN because you start thinking differently, like instead of thinking "How can I win this position and retreat safely?", you think "How do I MURDER EVERYONE AS QUICKLY AND BRUTALLY AS POSSIBLE?".
I seriously can't see why he gets this much hate. Personally I think heroes like Earth Spirit, Tinker, and Spirit Breaker are much more annoying to play against because of how unbelievably mobile they are. Huskar is basically stationary after initiation, you just need to be prepared to fight him.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
