Title. Apparently when/after the patch dropped that redesigned the Troll mob, Elder and Bonemass bosses, it failed to specify that the Elder actually also underwent a mechanical change (as opposed to the 3, 4, and 5 boss changes in the last related patchnotes).
Because I swear he never mass-spawned 1-2 Star Brutes and Shamans to come after you during the fight. Was an unpleasant surprise after seeing Eikthyr drop like a bag of potatoes as always – I knew about the bosses after getting a change, but it seems like there's zero documentation for the Elder's.
He most certainly got a health buff to boot; even a full stack of fire arrows and an upgraded Finewood Bow couldn't chip him below 50% health (even when focusing down Shamans ASAP), as opposed to killing him outright.
I'd say I'm torn on whether it's a good change or not, but it's honestly just frustrating. I feel as though it didn't add anything to the battle. He was a boring damage sponge boss fight to begin with, but simply adding even more Dwarves – the Brute/high-star spam in particular – to the Horde, and doubling his already spongy health, with the adage of Shamans letting it drag out longer.. Feels like he's a straight repeat of Bonemass now, just with brambles instead of goop.
Have ya'll chewed through his "revamped" fight yet? What's your personal take on this change?
