Padded is 18 armor rating better than the wolf set if you have a drake helm for your wolf set.

Wolf gives you the frost resistance.

Frost mead isn't THAT hard to make. In fact, it's pretty easy.

​

My suspicion is that padded is worth the extra 18 because frost mead is so easy to make. I, however, like the look of the wolf armor better, and the frost resist perk is great if you happen to run low on mead when you're IN the mountains.

Interesting conundrum.

Of course, you can do the padded armor with the wolf cape instead of the linen cape and get the same effect, so my second question is:

92 a lot of iron. Is the general consensus that it's worth the extra swamp grind? More important, a full set of padded is like 300 thread. That's a LOT of flax!
