I've enjoyed making Collusion decks in the past – which were admittedly an absolute meme – and SY is maybe my favorite faction, but I'm somewhat disappointed with the direction these new cards may take it. My biggest issue with SY is how midrange-y it tends to be (eg. playing Eternal Fire Disciple because it's good value per coin rather than because the deck is relying on Firesworn/swarm pay-off). Another one is that gangs often don't have their own strictly defined mechanics. Is there a single Blindeye that does anything another one does? Hoard is mostly a Tidecloak thing by now but Peaches and Mutant Killer have it too for some reason. Crownsplitters thing is crimes/Intimidate but they also have unrelated cards like Cleaver's Muscle, Coerced Blacksmith, Ludovicus Brunenbaum, Caesar Bilzen. Now, not every category needs to be that rigidly defined, but it seems to me too many SY categories are rather loose at the best of times, which also encourages picking the best value cards from each.
My concern with the new Collusion support is it reinforces this tendency. The new Sigi sort of plays like a high provision GN in terms of outputting several cards at once, and I can even see GN decks adapting to benefit from the other three cards (putting out three cards at once is a good way of getting more gang tags on board than the opponent is likely to be able to answer to).
But how do other people feel about it? Do you like this new direction for SY? Do you think it will even be relevant?
