Would Save the World benefit from a map overhaul?

In my honest opinion, with a game that has already been overshadowed by it’s younger sibling, the way with which you select a mission can bum me out sometimes.

Save the World is a lot of fun for me. I have spent a good amount of fun hours grinding the necessary resources, schematics, heroes, weapons, and survivors to come up with fun ways to play certain heroes. I can relate Save the World to the likes of a trading card game where your commander, the support heroes, and your weapons are similar to that of a perfect hand in Magic: The Gathering. It’s a lot of fun when your combos work and obliterate Husks. Stoneheart Farrah has been my main since she was first introduced and I only use bows 99% of the entire time I play this game. (Loving season 16 in Battle Royale right now.)

The thing is, this game already has a dwindling player-base and what has perplexed me for quite some time is how there are so many missions to choose from on the map. There’s too many options and I feel that this splits the player-base into far too many tiny queues. There’s so many instances where “those are the resources I need to upgrade my [thing]” happens but “No matches available.”

I like playing with people. Not only does it make the game easier overall but who doesn’t love dancing while the traps do all the work for you? Nobody wants to dance alone, am I right?

I sincerely believe that the mission select needs to find a way to compact all the players who are queuing up for matches. Problem is, I don’t know how to do this. How would any of you fix this? I’d like to feel that your comments could even help the developers if they happen to read them. But I’d love to know what you all think, regardless.

I feel that because we’re exposed to all of the same game modes on a daily basis, you’ll never pick the game mode you dislike. Plain and simple. Because that mission is tedious and you’d just rather not, right? However, take that game mode away for a weeks because it’s on a rotation and maaaaybe you may be more inclined to play Evacuate the Shelter when it comes back. But is Storm Category 1-4 really necessary?

Would Save the World benefit from a core set of missions where the goal is to eliminate husks or protect something? Daily quests could be changed from being restricted to certain map environments but instead be more focused on just playing the game in general. The environment you’re playing in could simply change from match to match with more “maps” being introduced as you level up (I.e., Ghost Town, Tropical, etc.) People playing the Storyline would simply queue up for the areas they’re permitted whereas all the end-game players would essentially just be constantly queuing for “Play with Others” but for the mission they want to actually play.

Perhaps, resources (V-Bucks, PERK-UPS!, shards, rain, eyes, tickets, etc.) could be obtained just by playing the game to earn a new in-game currency that you can use to trade for the exact resource you need to level up that specific thing you’re looking to upgrade.

Maybe my ideas are bad but I really hate seeing “No matches available.” and I’d love to see this problem go away. But how do we do that?
