Dock at a station in any ship, then …
Accept a rare mission type where you have 30 minutes in a pre engineered ship to complete a mission that aligns with that particular build (cargo delivery – clipper/t9, xeno kill – chieftan w/guardian gear, etc.)
Or
Have CG where specific ship builds are offered to participate, but can't leave the system. The possibilities are spicy indeed. Maybe put everyone in a T10 weaponless hull tank and have us ram NPC's. Maybe a time trial canyon race in a speed build currier (make Pomeche 2C great again!). Shield tanks vs hull tanks. In my opinion, any prebuilt ship activities would be very engaging to the community at large, as we would all share similar experiences.
1) This would allow for the developers to put ships and custom builds on showcase to the community.
2) This would allow for the community to get interested in builds and engineering choices which otherwise we may not get a chance to experience.
3) This would rebalance the current restriction on stored modules which limits the engineered modules that each commander is allowed to store at this time. I.E., 'should I go for those G5 long range eff beams? Nah, my storage is full and I'm not sure how they work' <- if we could just try them, then we would have the information that we need to manage which mods and weapons that we want to store.
But these do not exist so I need to get back to figuring out what to do with these G5 long range cannons with force shot that I tried and that I really, really do not care for. If only I could have tried them first.
